Salisbury University Experiential Learning Program

The Salisbury University Experiential Learning Program is conducted alongside the “Fraud & Forensic Accounting Certificate Program”. The certificate program was started in the fall semester of 2017 and is available to any Salisbury University student upon completion of the courses Accounting 201, Accounting 202, and Accounting 418, ending each course with a C or better. Once enrolled in the certificate program, students are able to enroll in the optional experiential learning internship program.

As an “Intern Investigator,” students work on real white-collar and elder abuse fraud cases in Maryland and Virginia. Students will learn real-world skills and gain experience through this internship while also positively impacting the surrounding community. The program has made strides each year in expanding and adding new students. In the 2022-2023 school year, there were 20 students in the internship program. In the 2023-2024 school year, there are currently thirty-eight students enrolled. The students are broken down into squads and the squads are comprised of teams. Each team contains a number of Intern Investigators who work together under their respective team leader. The team leaders are then able to report to their respective squad leaders, who oversee each team leader within their squad. With this organizational structure, the teams of Intern Investigators are delegated different cases, allowing them to work more efficiently and in-depth for their respective cases.
